ATTORNEY J.R. GARZA

Justino “J.R.” Garza is a practicing attorney who has owned his firm since 1994.  He graduated from Pan American University with a B.A. in Political Science. While an undergrad, he joined the prestigious national service organization Alpha Phi Omega, where he served as President of the organization.  Mr. Garza was also the Vice President of the Pan American University Student Body.  In this position, PAUSA hosted a statewide conference for the Texas State Student Association, which all universities across Texas attended.  While attending undergrad, Mr. Garza also ran a candidate’s bid for the Texas State Senate.

 

In 1991, he enrolled in law school at Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas.  While there, he was elected by his peers to serve as the President of the Chicano Law Students Association.  In 1993, he graduated from law school with a doctorate in jurisprudence.

 

Mr. Garza has practiced in Hidalgo County for over 30 years.  His practice areas are extensive, as he has practiced in the following areas: Criminal Law, Civil Law, Family Law, Administrative Law, Municipal Law, Corporate Law, Property Law, Entertainment Law, and Appellate Law.  Mr. Garza has also served as a mediator and has mediated over 700 cases for Hidalgo County Courts.  For eight years, Mr. Garza served as the Juvenile Referee in the 449th District Court.  Mr. Garza also served as the City of Weslaco Municipal Court Prosecutor for a period of eight years.

 

Mr. Garza is also an inventor and currently holds a systems patent for a phone application granted to him by the U.S. Patent Office in 2024.
